I have been using Cakewalk's virtual bass instrument and it's alright, although I do struggle with getting it to sound more realistic and getting it to cut through the mix. :) I can pluck out some basic stuff (albeit only with a pick my finger picking is dreadfully sloppy) but some of the bass lines I write are too difficult for me to play. I have a bass guitar, but truth be told, I'm a pretty poor player. If the Pre-Bass is anything close to the Jay-Bass, it is worth every penny!!! BTW, I do play bass myself so mostly I use a Fender Jazz Fretless Modified bass (looks like Jaco Pastorius's) running thru GK Amplification Pro or Mark Studio 2 and play the part in myself. I have intended to get the Pre-Bass one but never got around to it and I really prefer a Jazz Bass anyway. Sidroe Scarbee Jay-Bass is my go to bass library! I have used nothing else for bass guitar sounds since acquiring it.
